The Claude ecosystem

Anthropic's lineup goes well beyond the chatbot: a visual design studio, a Slack teammate, an agent for everyday knowledge work, a coding agent, and a full developer platform — all running on the Claude models (flagship: Claude Fable 5). Here's the whole map, plus how Claude is built.

What the plans get you

Free covers everyday chat. Pro (~$20/mo) unlocks more usage plus Claude Code, Cowork, and Claude Design; Max (~$100–200/mo) adds the highest limits and earliest access. For organisations, Team and Enterprise add admin controls — and are where Claude Tag, the Slack teammate, lives. Developers pay per token on the API.

The ecosystem

Getting started — the Claude apps no code 4

Claude on the web, desktop, and mobile. The flagship model is Claude Fable 5, with Opus 4.8, Sonnet 5, and Haiku 4.5 for different speed and cost needs. Nothing to install to begin — just sign in.

Claude (web, desktop & mobile) free tier — Chat with Claude at claude.ai or in the macOS/Windows/iOS/Android apps — writing, analysis, coding, and image understanding.
Projects paid — Persistent workspaces that bundle your files and instructions for an ongoing body of work, so Claude keeps the context.
Artifacts free tier — Live side-panel output for code, web pages, diagrams, and documents — now including Live Artifacts that refresh with real data.
Claude for Chrome paid — A browser extension where Claude can navigate pages, click, and fill forms on your behalf.
Claude Design — design by conversation no code 3

An Anthropic Labs tool that turns a prompt, image, or brand into polished, interactive designs — prototypes, slides, one-pagers, and decks. The output is live, clickable HTML you refine by talking, not a flat picture; export to PDF, PPTX, or Canva.

Claude Design paid — Design, prototype, and build presentations by talking to Claude. In research preview on Pro, Max, Team, and Enterprise plans.
Get started with Claude Design free — The official quickstart — what it makes, how to steer it, and how to export.
Announcement: Claude Design free — Anthropic Labs' introduction, with examples of what the tool produces.
Claude at work — Tag & Cowork no code 2

Claude as a teammate rather than a chat window: living in your Slack, or running multi-step knowledge work on your desktop.

Claude Tag (in Slack) paid — An always-on Claude that lives in a Slack channel — @mention it and it breaks down and completes tasks over hours, building shared memory of your team's work. For Team & Enterprise.
Claude Cowork paid — Agentic AI for knowledge work — the non-coder's Claude Code. Connects to your local files and apps to complete multi-step tasks on the desktop.
Claude Code — agentic coding intermediate 2

Anthropic's coding agent: it reads your codebase, edits files, runs commands, and handles git — in the terminal, your IDE, a desktop app, or the browser.

Claude Code free tier — The agentic coding tool that built this very site. Included with Pro and Max plans, or pay-as-you-go via the API. (Pro/Max or API)
Claude Code documentation free — Install, configure, and drive it across the terminal, VS Code / JetBrains, desktop, and web.
Build with Claude — the developer platform intermediate 5

For developers: call the models directly, and build agents on the same harness Anthropic uses.

Claude Developer Platform free tier — The API, the Console, and everything to build with Claude — start with the Messages API. (pay per token)
Claude Agent SDK free — Python & TypeScript library for building production agents on the Claude Code harness (renamed from the Claude Code SDK).
Managed Agents paid — A hosted service where Anthropic runs the agent loop and a per-session sandbox for you — no infrastructure to manage.
Agent Skills free — Reusable capability packages that work across Claude.ai, Claude Code, and the API — an open standard.
Model Context Protocol (MCP) free — The open standard (introduced by Anthropic, now stewarded by the Agentic AI Foundation) for connecting AI to your tools and data.
How Claude is designed — safety & alignment 4

How Claude is built to behave — the reasoning and safety work beneath the products above. Worth understanding whichever tool you use.

Claude's Constitution free — The public document (released under CC0) defining the principles Claude reasons from — safety, ethics, compliance, then helpfulness.
Anthropic Research — Constitutional AI free — The alignment method behind Claude: training against a set of principles rather than case-by-case rules, plus the wider research hub.
Responsible Scaling Policy free — Anthropic's framework of AI Safety Levels that gate how powerful models get deployed.
Interpretability research free — Reverse-engineering what happens inside the model — the science of understanding Claude from the inside.
Learn the ecosystem — free courses & docs 4

The best free ways to actually get good at everything above.

Anthropic Academy free — Official free courses — Claude 101, Claude Code, the platform, MCP, and Agent Skills — with completion certificates.
Anthropic Cookbook free — Runnable notebooks for tool use, RAG, agents, prompt caching, and structured output.
Prompt engineering interactive tutorial free — A hands-on, nine-chapter course in getting reliable results from Claude.
Anthropic on YouTube free — Official demos, explainers, and launch talks.
